You will see just to the right of the red dotted property line there is vertical tube that allows access to your curb valve or service valve, which happens to be the most critical component on your service line. This tube or curb box gives local utilities and homeowners access to the curb valve for maintenance or emergency purposes. Although the valve at the bottom is typically the responsibility of the water utility, the access is the responsibility of the homeowner. Not knowing where it is and if it's accessible, and or, operable can be the difference between minor and major property damages.
